Dogs are family and struggling with problem behaviour can take its toll on your relationship with your dog, as well as making life difficult and sometimes upsetting for all involved (dogs included). Any dog can have problems; whether they are a rescue with a difficult past, or a puppy with the perfect start, sometimes despite our best efforts, things can go wrong.
Ruffmutz is here to help and support you and your dog, judgement free. I will work with you to create a realistic behaviour modification plan tailored to your individual circumstance, using years of hands-on experience and knowledge.
In home consultations
All initial consultations will last a minimum of 90mins (and sometimes much longer!) to ensure we have enough time to do a full assessment of the situation and demonstrate any relevant training methods with you.
Dependent on the situation and problems your dog is struggling with, but particularly in the case of anything involving aggression or reactivity, we will always ask for a commitment to a minimum of a 3x session package. These may be all at your home, or a combination of at your home and online. This is to ensure we can give you the right level of support, and is a chance to help you with any issues that may come up along the way, as well as to help you keep progressing in the right direction! If a written training plan and report is required, these are available for an additional fee.

Please note in the case of sudden change in behaviour, severe anxiety, or aggression-related behaviour, we may ask that you have your dog health checked with your vet to rule out any medical issues contributing to the behaviour. We may also ask for a referral from your vet to work with you.
We feel training should be a positive experience for both you and your dog, and use reward based methods as we believe these are fairer for the dog, ultimately create a stronger relationship, and foster trust between dogs and their owners. We do not advocate the use of shock/prong/choke/spray collars, nor will we use rank reduction or dominance-based techniques.
Rescue Support
We are more than happy to work alongside you and a rescue centre if there is a training plan/post-adoption plan in place that you need support with, and alongside rescues who may need extra help with dogs in their care.
Please get in touch to enquire about rescue support. We currently work alongside Kelpie Welfare UK to offer post adoption support, and support for fosterers.
Enquire about a behaviour consultation
We don’t book behaviour consultations without prior discussion. This is to ensure you can get the most from your session, in as stress-free way as possible for all humans and dogs involved.
If you would like to enquire about a behaviour consultation for your dog, please fill in this contact form and we will be in touch with you for further information
For the safety of everyone concerned, you must inform us at the time of booking if your dog has ever shown any aggression,or bitten, either out in public or within the home environment. This is to ensure safety measures can be put in place prior to the session to minimise any risk and avoid unnecessary stress either to people, your own dog, or to others.
